Bike Classes & Camps 2011Try out one of Cascade’s spring break and summer camps or classes. With options for the experienced and inexperienced as well as kids and teenagers, you’ll find some great opportunities to keep time off from school exciting and fun. Register online for all Cascade youth classes and camps.
Thanks to our 2009 Dirt Camp participants! ONGOINGURBAN RIDERS: one-day class Whether you want to save the planet, get fit, save some cash, or get places fast, this Urban Riders class will keep you safe while you’re doing it. The first part of each class is for discussion about road rules, safety, and parking lot drills. During the second part of class we will practice navigating intersections, roadways and changing lanes. We will also work on practical skills like front wheel lifts. URBAN RIDERS CAMP
Ages: 12-16
Dates and locations:
Time: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Cost: $325 (Redmond Camp) or $250 (Magnuson Camp)
Explore the neighborhood by bike, spend a day at the Marymoor Velodrome, play bike polo with a local expert and ride out to an organic farm. Each day will include a “bike-able” activity as well as a few safety tips and some simple bike maintenance to keep your wheels in action! Bring a bike, a helmet, and lunch. BIKES, BOATS, AND BEACH: week-long camp
Ages: 12-16
Dates: Aug. 22-26
Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Cost: $250
Location: Magnuson Park
Come ride the wind with Sail Sandpoint, raft the rugged waters of Lake WA with Seattle Raft and Kayak, scale thrilling climbing walls with the Mountaineers, and learn some bike skills, followed by an urban ride with the Cascade Bicycle Club. The first day of camp, we’ll have a barbecue and float test where campers get to know each other before a week of adventure! The rest of the week, campers will explore the surrounding area of Magnuson Park and Lake Washington on bikes, sail boats, kayaks, and climbing. Bring sunscreen. Must be able to pass a float test. WHEELIE FUN DIRT CAMP
Ages: 6-8
Dates: 4 days
Time: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Duthie Hill Park, Issaquah
Cost: $120
Two wheel bikes roll through the park in search of treasure, race through the pump track and experience a little trail riding. Wheelie Fun riders will learn what it takes to be safe on the trails while having tons of fun. Campers must be able to ride a 2-wheel bike. Bring a bike and helmet.Parents must bring kids up to the Clearing inside the park and pick them up there too (10 minute walk).
DIRT CAMP: week-long camp
Ages: 9 - 14 (Kenmore & Issaquah)

Cost: $250
Roots, rocks, jumps, and drops are just some of the skills we will work on in this camp. Each day starts off with skill builders and ends with long trail rides. Added this year will be trail building techniques. Guest pro riders will drop in and talk about what it takes to get to the top. We’ll do a hands on fix-a-flat class and play lots of bike games. Be sure to come prepared with a functional bike, a helmet and lunch. Early drop-off is available at 9 a.m. for $5 per day, until 9:45am. Camp includes:
GIRLS' DIRT CAMP
Ages: 10-14
Dates: August 8-12
Time: 10 a.m. 3 p.m.
Location: Duthie Hill Park, Issaquah
Cost: $250
Ride like a girl, and be proud of it! With the supportive guidance of our female coaches, you will master riding skills, fix flat tires with ease, and have tons of fun riding trails. Plus special guest appearances from local pro women riders. Bring a mountain bike, a helmet, and lunch. Early drop-off is available starting at 9am for $5 per day, until 9:45am.
DIRT RIDERS' CLUB
Ages: 9-14

Duthie Hill Park, Issaquah: Tuesdays
Time: 5-7 p.m.
Cost: $95
Let’s ride! We’ll start each session with skill builders then hit the trails, exploring twisting single track, rallying over roots and logs, and playing balance and agility games. One day will include trail building techniques. Come prepared with a functioning bike and helmet . Groups will split by age.

BIKE SKILLS & THRILLS
Ages: 11 and under
Time: 2-3 hours
Cost: $195

Minimum: 5 kids, Maximum: 75 kids
A great way to get the kids in your summer program excited about riding along with the tools to do it safely! We start out with a twenty-minute safety talk including ‘Melon Drop’ and interactive safety tips. Then we run a bike rodeo including skills like looking back for cars, rock dodge, slalom and slow racing. You provide the kids, bikes and helmets four volunteers to assist with the course, and a playground or closed parking lot to ride around in.
URBAN RIDERS: 1-day road-riding class
Ages: 11-15
Time: four-hour class
Cost: $50 per student (5 student min, 12 max)

Minimum: 8 people, Maximum: 20 people
Family Bike Skills is a two hour course designed to give families the skills for safe and fun road riding. Children will learn proper road rules and techniques in a safe environment alongside parents. Parents will learn to further support their child’s riding education.
Bring bikes in good working order and helmets.

TRIPS FOR KIDS SEATTLE: day trips
Ages: 10-17
Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Cost: $100 for a group of 10 kids plus staff
Location: Saint Edward State Park, Kenmore
Mountain bike programs and environmental awareness for kids who wouldn’t otherwise have these opportunities. Kids learn trail etiquette, rules of riding, bike skills and an appreciation for the environment. Bikes, helmets, gloves, Clif Bars, and full water bottles are supplied. At the end of each ride, we reflect on the day and share what we have learned. Agencies can sign up groups by contacting us. Visit the Trips for Kids website for more information.

Cancellations must be received at least five business days before the camp start date (i.e., no later than 4:30 p.m. the Monday before start date) to receive a refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations received after that time will be refunded 50% of the registration fee.
