ROAD BIKE CAMPS

Roadies - 1 Day Road Camp

Emergency skills – quick stop, scanning for cars, and rock dodge

Cycle U Guest Coaches - bike handling, racing drills, and cornering

Get the ins-and-outs of road riding at this fun, hands-on camp! This camp will emphasize bike handling, emergency maneuvers, road rules, and fix-a-flat. Guest coaches from Cycle U will cover bike handling for racing as well as cornering drills. Then test out your skills with group rides on the Burke Gilman Trail! Bring a helmet and a bike in good working order.

Urban Cycling
Ages: 12-15
Date: May 12 and 14, Monday and Wednesday

Whether your teens want to save the planet, get fit, save some cash, or get places fast, this Urban Cycling class will keep them safe while they have fun. The first part of each class is for discussion about road rules, safety, and practice in emergency maneuvering. The second part of class we will practice navigating intersections, roadways and changing lanes. Plus we will work on practical skills like front wheel lifts and track stands. Bring a bike in good working order plus a helmet. Based on the League of American Bicyclists curriculum.

MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMPS

It's time to get...DIRRRTY!

Gearing up, braking, shifting and body position
Balance – teeter-totter, boards, and slow race
Climbing and Descending
Obstacles and Drops – small (½ -1ft high), front wheel lifts, and manuals
Maintenance – fix-a-flat, dirt rules

Come and get down and dirty on this 1 day Dirt Camp co-sponsored by Trips for Kids. We'll give you sweet tips for climbing those challenging hills and descending them as well. You'll also learn useful tricks for riding through all sorts of terrain and best ways to turn at different speeds and angels. Once we ve covered these skills, we ll move on to even sweeter ones like front wheel lifts, manuals, logs and small drops!!! Be sure to come prepared with a functioning bike. If this is not in the cards for you, feel free to borrow one of ours.

GIRLS BIKE CAMP

Spoke Sisters – 2 Day Girls Camp

Hey sister, spoke sister! It s about time we got some quality female riding time in. This camp will be taught by girls, for girls. Day 1 we ll cover techniques, rules of the road, trail riding skills & practice along with a guest coach from Cycle U who will teach racing and cornering skills! Day 2 will include mountain biking skills, climbing and descending, teeter totters, obstacles and bridges. Taught by supportive women coaches, guest pro racers, coaches from Cycle U, and the Luna Chix.

Instructors are certified in the League of American Bicyclists Road I, and USA Cycling Certified.
Assistants are local junior riders and racers from Rad Racing NW.
Scholarships available – contact Cascade Bicycle Club Education Foundation for details.
$5 late fee if registering within 10 days of the class.

WEEK-LONG BIKE CAMPS

Cascade partners with Magnuson Community Center to bring this fun-filled summer camp! Campers will ride bikes with Cascade Bicycle Club, boat with Sail Sandpoint and kayak with Seattle Raft and Kayak. Biking will include a road course (emergency drills, intersections, and staying safe), mountain bike skills (balance, jumps and small drops), and bike maintenance. Bikes supplied. Group Health Bicycle Camps for Kids

Ages: 9-12
June 23 - Aug 8

Day 1: Road rules, safety rodeo
Day 2: Track riding at the Group Health Velodrome
Day 3: Mountain Biking with Trips for Kids Seattle
Day 4: Magnuson street smarts, fix-a-flat, freeride stunt course
Day 5: 10 mile ride

This super fun camp is a great introduction to many styles of riding. Bikes and helmets are supplied.
