About
(Mission adopted from the Chicagoland Bicycle Ambassador Program)

The goal of this program is to increase the number of trips made by bicycle while decreasing the number of bicycling related fatalities and injuries. With obesity and traffic congestion on the rise, it is important for communities to support and encourage healthy alternatives to a sedentary lifestyle.

The Bicycle Ambassador educates and encourages the public to use their bicycles more and to do so safely by educating residents about riding in traffic, biking with kids, or running errands by bike. For Cascade Bicycle Club, the focus of the Ambassadors is working in the community. Some of the primary goals of the Ambassadors include reaching new groups and educating riders who are not currently being reached by other segments of the Club.

The Cascade Bicycle Club Education Foundation is looking for more volunteers. If you are interested, contact us to set up a volunteer training session.

Cascade Ambassador Tasks
1. Attend community events where they will distribute literature (CBCEF brochures, safety brochures, maps) and dispense knowledge about safe cycling and bike commuting.

2. Attend low-cost helmet sales where they will fit helmets, distribute literature (CBCEF brochures, safety brochures, maps), and dispense knowledge about safe cycling.

3. Talk to riders and walkers on the trails. Ambassadors will be located at busy stop/start points throughout the summer to talk to cyclists about safe riding and commuting, as well as to distribute materials.

4. Attend children’s events such as school assemblies to teach children about bike safety and possibly to do helmet fittings.
