Bridging with Bikes

During much of May and July, the I-90 Bridge will be undergoing repairs and traffic is expected to be backed up much more than usual. Although some may decide that waiting in traffic for an hour is inevitable, you’ve got the inside scoop on a far better solution: the bicycle.

Want to get to work on time? The I-90 bike trail is open during the construction!

Our Bridging with Bikes Program will support commuters—new and veteran alike—who decide to take on the bridge to avoid congestion, save time and build in a healthier routine that can last all year long.

Join us for Breakfast on (near) the Bridge!

We’ll be thanking bicycle commuters for riding (and, perhaps, making car drivers jealous) with coffee and snacks from 6-9 a.m. on Fridays during construction (May 8, 15, and 22). We’ll be on the west side of Mercer Island, right along the trail, just west of West Mercer Way in the grassy I-90 Park on the Lid. Stop by and meet fellow riders on your way across or meet up at 7:30 a.m. for the Bike Bus.

Hire a (free) Bike Pilot!

Not sure how to get from A to B? A Cascade Bike Pilot can guide you to your destination! Join us on Friday, May 22 at 7:30 am for coffee and a guided ride across the water from Mercer Island to destinations like Downtown Seattle, the U-District and Bellevue.
