Cascade Bicycle Club’s Camp Orkila Cycling Weekend Extend your summer a week past Labor Day! Get away to the San Juans this September by joining Cascade staff for the third annual bicycle camp weekend at the YMCA’s lovely Camp Orkila on Orcas Island. Enjoy rides, classes, camp activities, beautiful scenery, companionship and much more. With scenery second to none in the Pacific Northwest, Orcas Island is the crown jewel of the San Juan Islands. Why pay up to $350-$450 a night for a custom bicycle tour when you can go with Cascade for much less? We’ll be sleeping in open-door shared cabins, and we’ll also be eating great food and riding in the same areas that high-end tours operate year-round on the islands. Non-bicyclists* and non-members are all welcome. Your registration (pdf) fee of $97* (nonmembers $107; kids registration of $75) includes:
For $15 additional you even can go on a two-hour guided kayak tour. Last year’s tour treated paddlers to a duck’s eye view of a Bald Eagle nest and a variety of amazing sea life. The great folks at Camp Orkila will also pick up you, your bags and bike at the ferry dock when you arrive and then drive them back on Sunday in time to leave. We’re sure you’ll fall in love with this place after just one weekend. The weekend’s agenda features classes and clinics taught by Cascade’s certified instructors and experienced coaches and mechanics. Cascade ride leaders will run a series of rides for all abilities to local destinations such as Deer Harbor or Eastsound for ice cream. Whatever your ability level, we’ll have an activity for you. There are only 80 registrations available, so register today (pdf) to secure your place. Late fees apply after August 1, so don’t miss out! *Note: Cascade subsidizes camp costs by $25 per person; please consider making an extra donation to help make this camp possible. Contributions or gifts to Cascade Bicycle Club Education Foundation, a 501(C)(3) non-profit, are tax deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes; membership contributions or gifts to Cascade Bicycle Club 501(C)(4) are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Accommodations consist of open-air cabins that house 8-12 people. Bring your own bedding or sleeping bag, towels, and flashlights. Mattresses are provided. Bring your own bikes & helmets. Transportation for Camp Orkila participants, bikes, and luggage from the Orcas island ferry dock to and from the camp is included in the camp registration.
